The Ribera del Duero is two hours from Madrid, which makes a pleasant day trip through one of the most interesting regions for any type of traveler possible. History, art, traditions, wineries, exquisite gastronomy, and a natural environment privileged, are part of the offer that this area offers to the traveler.

For lunch we will enjoy the traditional roast lamb, accompanied by Ribera wine, for many the best roast lamb in the world. You can also opt for other exquisite specialties, traditional from this area, such as cheese, blood sausage, chorizo, Castilian soup and the new signature cuisine also present in the region.

Produced in this region they are among the best in Spain. Already in the 12th century the monks of Cluny were growing grapes on the banks of the Douro River to produce wine. Ribera del Duero is in the heart of Castilla-León, the old land of castles. The subsoil of almost all the towns is practically hollow, with caves excavated to store the wine, as they guarantee perfect humidity and temperature conditions. Although many wineries have fallen into disuse, some have been recovered for visits or for wine production. Visiting an old winery that has been in operation for centuries and drinking a glass of wine there is an unforgettable experience.

A visit to Ribera del Duero would not be complete without trying the famous suckling pig or lamb roasted in a wood oven, on a grill or in a winery. In this region you can eat the best roast lamb in the world. Although we should not forget the other traditional specialties such as cheese, blood sausage, chorizo, Castilian soup and the specialties of the new signature cuisine also present in the region.

Wine tour Ribera Review

Ismael made our tour wonderful. I was staying in a hotel near Atocha station, which was close to the pick-up station. Ismael was a great guide, knew his wine, helped translate when needed and invited us to a local restaurant for lunch. It was one of my favorite meals during my week-long visit. One of the owners of the wine did not know English, but he knew his wine very well. I ordered him a case for help. To help the owner, Ismael gave the tour. 100 would go again and do the same route with Ismael.

I had a great time on this tour and Carlos does a great job of helping everyone feel included and makes sure everyone is having a good time. The tapas selection was varied at each location and the wine choices on the tour were excellent. Definitely a lot of food for everyone and an enjoyable experience in Madrid.

A fantastic tapas tour through a good variety of boutique venues with a rich variety of food and wine. Carlos was an excellent guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable and eager to answer as many questions as he could. I also met a very friendly group of fellow travelers on the tour. I highly recommend this tour if you are in Madrid for a short or long time. It is a very entertaining evening. It was very good value for money as well.
